Ohio Has Largest Drop in ACA Marketplace Enrollment

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio (HPIO) has recently released the following as part of their Healthcare access and affordability in Ohio series:

In Ohio, marketplace enrollment was fairly low until 2021, when Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act, which included enhanced subsidies for ACA marketplace plans. The legislation also increased income limits for these subsidies, making marketplace plans more affordable and significantly increasing enrollment. Following the expiration of enhanced subsidies at the end of 2025, 161,000 fewer Ohioans are enrolled in the marketplace compared to last year. Even among those who still selected a plan in 2026, many are now losing coverage due to missed premium payments.
