Status:Full time
Education:Graduate of an accredited school of medical assisting Skills/Responsibilities:Handles patient functions in treatment area such as vital signs, venipucture, and placing patient in the exam room, placing medical record in chart holder, and using flag system. Prepares treatment rooms as required (changes paper and/or sheets, disposes of patient gown, resupplies as necessary, provides housekeeping measures as required). Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular medications as ordered with proper technique. Critical thinking a must when administering oncology supportive drugs. Assists with daily functions in the Cancer Center lab, learning and following CLIA regulations and requirements. Has procedure skills for EKG and Pulse Oximetry. Prepares physician charts each day, assuring all reports and dictation notes are posted. Cross trains to telephone triage and the dispensing pharmacy. Assists with duties associated with dictation notes until EMR is instituted. Positive and friendly outlook and team approach a must. Reports directly to Coordinator.
Special Requirements:
The
incumbent has a great deal of contact with patients and must be able to
establish a rapport with them. Must have good decision-making and
problem solving skills. Must be fluent in all types of injections and
venipuncture.
